#TedxSJII2019

Lead Organizer Soham is the Lead Organiser of TEDxYouth@SJII 2019. A Grade 12 student, he has played an active role in SJII’s theatre scene, both on and off stage, and has served as the Head Producer for the past two TEDxYouth@SJIIs. He also serves as a member of SJII’s MUN Committee and The Theatre Council. As a curious individual, his interests range from international relations and swimming to physics equations and global languages. He looks forward to organising the TEDxYouth@SJII events!

Head Producer Lily Updike is the Head Producer of TEDxYouth@SJII. She has been involved in a myriad of school community service events such as the organisation of One Day Without Shoes, Meals on Wheels and Rise for Hunger. As an integral part of the SJII Interact Club, she has been elected into the Executive Committee as Secretary. She is also an active member of the Theatre Council, working in the logistics department. She is a passionate rock climber and thoroughly enjoys the great outdoors.

Head Event Manager Joleen is the Head Event Manager of the 2019 TEDxYouth@SJII. A strong supporter of technology and its sustainable use, she is the Vice President of Singapore Academy of Young Engineers and Scientists, as well as an Energy Ambassador for the Energy Market Authority of Singapore. She loves chemistry, math, Russian literature, and the ocean.

Head Communications & Marketing Director Bryan is very involved in SJII's Arts scene, participating in, starting and organising various Arts events and initiatives such as an Arts magazine, a student-run Art blog, exhibitions, Arts workshops and many more. This year, he will be organising SJII's first ever Charity Arts Night. In his spare time, he likes to paint or play the ukulele. This is his last year being part of the TEDxYouth@SJII Team, he hopes that everyone will enjoy the event!

Head Curator Melissa is the Head Curator of the 2019 TEDxYouth@SJII. As the current editor-in-chief of the student-led school newspaper One Voice, she is very interested in journalism and current affairs. Other than playing touch rugby and learning Spanish in her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, reading, skateboarding and spending time with her friends.

Head Finance Director Elizabeth is the Head Finance Director for TEDxYouth@SJII. She is an executive committee member of the school’s Lasallian Youth and in Grade Council. She is a budding artist who enjoys reading inspirational fiction novels and watching Christmas films. She aims to get an MBBS degree, specialising in dermatology- aspiring to patent a new medicine, improving lives of many.

Head of Photography & Video Alys Newbery is the Head Photographer & Videographer and she is currently a Grade 12 student. She has always been a passionate advocate for the arts: currently in the Theatre Council after previously participating in several school productions, and now is currently working towards her Grade 7 in Violin. Her interests include musicals, film, and she hopes to either be a trauma surgeon or film director!

Event Host Maida is the Event Host of the TEDxYouth@SJII 2019. She is a Grade 11 student this year and is passionate about dance, acting, and community service. She is involved in the school’s Service Council and Interact Club. In addition, she competes at multiple dance competitions every year, having recently placed 1st at a regional dance competition. She hopes this event will be entertaining and meaningful for the audience.

Deputy Producer Caitlin is the Deputy Producer of the 2019 TEDxYouth@SJII. She serves also as the head of logistics for The Rumbek Project, a service initiative to support education for young children in South Sudan. A member of the school’s theatre production crew, volleyball team and a Staff Sergeant of the Girls’ Brigade, she is passionate about chemistry, mathematics and art.

Deputy Event Manager Joaquin is the Deputy Event Manager of the 2019 TEDxYouth@SJII. He is one of the committee heads of SJII’s Rumbek Project, a student-led initiative to support the education of children in South Sudan. An advocate of human rights, a member of his school’s Production Crew, and a part of the frisbee team, he has a passion for film, music, and poetry.

Deputy Communications & Marketing Director Isabel is currently a Grade 11 student. She won both the Geography Subject Award and the Student of the Year award for Grade 10. In addition, she is a member of the SJII U19 Girl’s A Team in Volleyball and deeply enjoys the sport! Isabel loves art, especially sketching and painting, showcasing her work in the Singapore National Arts Museum, as well as the Visual Art Centre. She hopes to code her own website and become a successful architect one day!

Deputy Curator Kai Ryn is the Deputy Curator for TEDxYouth@SJII. She is an editor of the school’s student-led newspaper One Voice, an executive committee member of the Lasallian Youth and was involved in the set design of the Oliver! musical production. She is passionate about History and Geography. Some of her favourite pastimes are baking brownies and listening to the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat.

Deputy Finance Director Ashley Koh is the Deputy Finance Director of 2019 TEDxYouth@SJII and is currently a Grade 11 student. She is also part of the SJII Interact Club, participating in their volunteer activities. Outside of her school education, she is an avid music student who has achieved Grade 8s in both piano and classical singing, and is currently preparing for her ARSM performance diploma in singing.
